Tigray Medical Association (TMA) is a non-profit and non-partisan professional association founded in 2020 with a mission to address the healthcare challenges faced in the Tigray region and also to address the need for a unified platform to advocate for challenges healthcare workers face in Tigray specifically and generally in Ethiopia while doing their responsibilities to give the best care to the community.

Unfortunately, the civil war started just after its establishment and TMA couldn’t function. After the peace agreement was signed on December 30, 2023, the second General assembly was held amazingly more than 300 physicians attended the conference and a new executive committee was elected . Now it’s working to quickly gain traction and attract a growing membership base. The association’s activities encompassed a wide range of initiatives, including continuing medical education programs, professional networking opportunities, community outreach projects, and collaborative partnerships with healthcare institutions and improve the living standard of physicians.

Since its inception, TMA has been committed to its core values of excellence, collaboration, advocacy, and lifelong learning. As a relatively young association, TMA continues to evolve, adapt, and expand its services to meet the evolving needs of the Tigray community and contribute to the advancement of healthcare in the region.
